What Bae is

Bae is an AI partner builder made by ppl.studio. You build a girlfriend or a boyfriend in about three minutes, choose a face, a name and a voice register, and talk to them by text. The site is anonymous-first: you can build and start talking with no login, no email and no credit card, and a private cookie keeps the companion tied to your browser. The free tier is usable on its own, and a paid tier called Bae Pro adds permanent memory and an adult mode. The same companion works across a phone and a laptop once you attach an email. Bae is a website on purpose: its FAQ says it runs in the browser with no download and no store listing, and that it can be added to a phone's home screen.

Bae leans toward companionship and memory more than toward explicit content. Spicy mode exists, but it is an opt-in setting on Pro, and the product copy spends most of its words on remembering the user.

What you can do with it

The builder is a four-step creator covering a face, a shape, a name and a feeling. Any step can be skipped and revisited later, and you can keep editing the companion afterward. You can also start from a roster of hand-written archetypes. The site says there are 27 of them, with 14 shapes on the girlfriend page and 10 on the boyfriend page. Girlfriend cards include the Cottagecore Wife, the Goth Girlfriend, the Anime Waifu, the Cyberpunk Rebel, the Vintage Pen-Pal and the Gamer Girlfriend. Boyfriend cards include the Soft Boy, the Goth Boyfriend, the Nerdy Boyfriend, the Vampire Boyfriend and the Cowboy. A short any-gender group adds the Dark Academia Partner, the Wellness Partner and the Fantasy Companion. A tap on a card drops you into the studio with the face, name and voice already filled in, ready to change. There is also a 60-second quiz that suggests a match, and the builder lets you describe a companion from scratch instead. You can tell the companion what to call you, and the features page says the first greeting arrives in the companion's own voice with your name in it. Name, voice and opening line stay editable afterward.

Voice here means a written register, not audio. The features page lists three voice registers, Warm, Playful and Intense, which shape how a companion texts. Voice notes, meaning a short note in the companion's voice at moments like goodnight, are listed as in progress and being tested with some people. In the site's own feature table, voice messages and video calls are marked as not offered.

The chat itself is text. The features page describes it as paced like someone typing, in short bursts with pauses, and says the companion answers in your language if you write in it. A companion may also text first when you go quiet, with a stated ceiling of two messages before it waits for you.

Memory is the headline feature. The home page describes six layers working under every reply, and the features page lists a dashboard of every companion you have made, pinnable and editable companion facts, a weekly look back, a count of days together without streaks, and six relationship stages named Just met, curious, crush, together, devoted and forever. The pricing page separates free from Pro here: free memory holds the past 7 days plus anything you pin, and Pro keeps memory forever. The relationship arc runs through Crush on the free tier and all the way to Forever on Pro.

Pictures are called selfies and scene photos. The site says a selfie is generated to look like it was taken on the companion's phone, and that the same face is kept every time. How many you get depends on the plan, as the next section sets out. The terms say generated images made on your behalf belong to you to the extent the law allows.

Spicy mode is described as opt-in per partner, for 18+ users, and off by default. It belongs to Pro. The features page adds that it is switched on per companion by adults who confirm they are 18 or older, only once the relationship has got there, and that the site never asks for ID. The pages say nothing more about what Spicy mode allows in chat or in pictures.

Free tier, plans and billing

The durable facts come first. Free is described as free forever and needs no card. It allows an unlimited number of companions, a daily message limit that rises when you add an email, a small weekly selfie allowance, 7 days of memory and the arc through Crush. Pro removes the daily message limit, raises the photo allowance, keeps memory forever, opens the full arc and adds Spicy mode. The first 7 days of Pro are a free trial: you add a card at checkout, get the full Pro experience, and are not charged until day 8. Canceling during the trial means the card is never billed. Cancellation works from the account page at any time, the relationship history stays intact, and you return to free terms when the paid period ends. Billing runs through Stripe, and the pages say weekly, monthly or annual is chosen at checkout after the trial, with a switch from weekly to annual possible later in the customer portal.

In October 2026 the free tier is listed at $0, with 30 messages a day, or 100 with an email, and 2 selfies a week, against 100 selfies a week on Pro. The home page and the features page give Pro as $2.99 a week or $99 a year. The pricing page itself advertises Pro from $1.90 a week, which it explains is the lowest per-week rate, billed annually, and it says the exact amounts show on the upgrade sheet before you commit. The terms add that if pricing changes, the new prices are posted and users are told before a feature they use becomes paid-only. The site does not publish a refund rule beyond canceling.

Rules and privacy

The terms say you must be 18 or older. They describe Bae as a tool for creating an AI companion, state that the companion is software and not a therapist or doctor, and say a user should not act on anything it says about medical, legal or financial matters without checking with a qualified person. A hard line in the terms prohibits using the site to create content depicting minors in any sexual or suggestive context.

On privacy, the site says conversations are not sold and are not used to train other companies' models. You can leave at any time through a goodbye page that deletes everything in one tap, and the terms say everything is deleted within 30 days, including backups. The site says no spam email is sent unless you ask for it. The safety page says chats are stored only so the companion can remember you, and that a companion will point a user toward a person, a hotline or a hospital when something serious comes up. The site names ppl.studio as the maker, and the terms, last updated May 2026, are governed by the laws of Delaware. Material changes to the terms are announced by email at least 14 days ahead to anyone who has given an address.

Who it suits

Bae suits someone who wants a companion that remembers details over months, wants to start without handing over an email or a card, and prefers a calm product with no streaks or notification nudges. The anonymous start is unusual and makes it easy to judge the chat before committing. The weekly billing option suits a person who wants to pay for a short stretch and stop.

The caveats are plain. The free tier holds only 7 days of memory and a small daily message count, and the full memory the product is built around sits behind Pro. Because the companion lives in a cookie until you add an email, clearing cookies or switching phones loses her. The adult mode is opt-in and thinly described. Someone who mainly wants an explicit image generator or voice calls is better served by a different kind of product.
